Thanks for sharing your touching story. Sorry to hear about losing your father. But it's so sweet of you to buy your mom Samantha. I agree with the others, I'd love to hear about her reaction. I'm guessing it will bring a big smile to her face, if not a tear to her eye.

I really sorry to hear about your dad. I hope your mom really enjoys Samantha. We just gave my my a doll for Valentines. She was a fixer-upper and my mom really got into painting freckles and freshening up her lips and cheeks. I didn't know how she would react but she kept talking to her while she was painting and the rewigging her. I stopped by her house a couple of days later and she was in the family room. I thought she'd put her on the bed in the guest room. I was really happy that she liked her. Let us know when your mom gets her. Have fun at AGP.

Thank you everyone for such great support. I really hope she will like her, or I should say bond with her. I'm hoping she will embrace this as a hobby and enjoy herself. She likes to sew, so maybe she will get into making some doll clothes for her. I will try to take some pics when I give the doll to her.

We have had a tough time this past month. I lost my Dad on Feb.10th. He was 80 years old and had been sick a very long time. It is wonderful that he is no longer suffering even if it is sad for us. [img]graemlins/broken_heart.gif[/img]
He and my mother were married for 51 years. Next week is her birthday and she will be 80. My mother has always wanted Samantha. She was raised in the depression and would NEVER buy Samantha for herself. I figured your 80th birthday is the perfect time to receive the doll of your dreams! I actually had planned this before we lost my Dad and now I'm so glad I did! I hope she will enjoy her as much as my dd and I enjoy our dolls. I will update everyone after I give her the doll next week.
My mom and I are also going to AGPC next week for what she thinks is a buying trip for my dd, whose b-day is just 2 days after hers. But I plan to give her the doll before we go so she can buy something for her if she wants to! (like she'll be able to resist once she is there!).
